We have a number of core values and beliefs that we hold dear. The simplest explanation is that we love God’s word and love the presence of God’s Spirit.

We don’t insist that members of our church hold to all of our doctrine, just that they understand that we’re clear on what we do believe as a church.

Values

  • We are Christians, and as part of the universal church, we hold to the four ecumenical creeds that all Christians believe.
  • We are Protestant Christians, meaning we affirm that justification is by faith alone, believe that the Bible is our ultimate authority, and stand in the Reformation tradition.
  • We are Evangelical Christians, meaning we also affirm modern statements such as the Lausanne Covenant and the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith. We hold to a traditional position on gender, sexuality, and marriage.

Culture

Culture is that intangible sense of ‘what’s its like to be around here’. We work hard to ensure our culture is shaped by our faith in Jesus and follows the Bible’s teaching.

WE SEEK TO BE

  • GENUINE
    being honest with each other
  • COURAGEOUS
    making brave choices
  • THANKFUL
learning to give thanks in all circumstances
  • GENEROUS
giving our time, talent, and treasure
  • SAFE
looking out for and after each other

We are part of Commission. We therefore gladly hold to Commission’s ten theological Values:

CORE DOCTORINES

  • Word-based
We believe the Bible is God’s word and should shape all that we believe and do.
  • Holy Spirit
We believe that all the Spirit’s gifts are given today and seek to express and develop those in our church life.
  • Grace-filled
We believe grace is the undeserved kindness of God which we want to reflect in every aspect of church life.

CORE LEADERSHIP VALUES

  • Complementarian
We believe that men and women are created equal in value and dignity before God, while being given distinct and complementary roles in the home and in the life and leadership of the church.
  • Elders in each local church
We believe Elders are appointed to provide leadership, teaching, guarding and guiding of the church.
  • Ephesians 4 ministries
We believe that Christ gives apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers to equip and build up the church.
  • Servant-Hearted
We recognise Christian leadership as following the example of Jesus: to serve others, be godly, transparent and accessible.

CORE MISSION VALUES

  • Local church-focused
We regard the local church as central to the mission and purposes of God.
  • Mission expressed locally and globally
We believe local churches should be engaged in both local and global mission.
  • Committed Relationships
We believe church should be a loving community, led by a team who demonstrate healthy, supportive and honouring friendships.
